Two Turtle Doves

The Old and New Testaments, which together bear witness to God’s self-revelation in history and the creation of a people to tell the Story of God to the world.
Jesus is God’s greatest gift to us. The “two turtle doves”, the Old Testament and the New Testament, testify to His goodness and mercy and love. In the end He leaves us with Peace and hope, the knowledge that He will return for us, the promise of eternal life with Him. Today, the dove, a small white delicate bird, has become identified with Peace. From the first Peace, when the dove returned to Noah’s ark carrying a freshly plucked olive leaf, a sign that Peace between God and man had returned to the earth, to the new Peace, our redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.

On the first day of Christmas….A Partridge in a Pear Tree my Savior gave to me

On the first day of Christmas A Partridge in a Pear Tree my Savior gave to me...A new heart filled with love. Peace on earth: Let it start within your own heart. Good will to men: Look at your family, or those close by. Look up from this screen. There is a world around you that you are to influence. Let the good will begin in and shine from you. Someone has to start the process.

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Luke 13:34
Family, friends, carols, special gifts, special events, special . . . everything. It all seems so close. So welcome. So wonderful. And, it should. So, this season, this Christmas, what can we do to accomplish whatever is our part of the task that Jesus’ coming was meant to cause to happen?
Peace on earth: Let it start within your own heart.
Good will to men: Look at your family, or those close by. Look up from this screen. There is a world around you that you are to influence. Let the good will begin in and shine from you. Someone has to start the process.
“The Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
You and I, and our neighbors, are His purpose. We always have been. We always will be. He came to so fully change our lives that the angel’s pronouncement to Joseph had been, ” . . . and He SHALL save His people . . ..” Who would ever have thought that such a thing could be put into motion by such a seemingly common occurrence? He was just a baby that day. Helpless, susceptible to danger, small, insignificant. But, OH, how the world was forever changed.
The tinsel, the garland, the lights and ornaments. They are only but a dim reminder of how much glory God ushered into the world that day so very long ago. On their own, they are pretty sights that captivate even a child’s imagination. But, in contrast, only a small candle in comparison to the glory God gave to us that day.
Merry Christmas !! It is but one aspect of God’s wonderful gift!

The Inn Keeper

While there may not be anything directly written about the innkeeper in scripture, he played one of the most important roles in the birth of Christ. If it had not been for his willingness to give Mary and Joseph all he had, there likely would not have been a place for Mary to give birth to Jesus.

Sure, a stable was not the most ideal of places, but it was all the innkeeper had to give. We should model the innkeeper’s response in the way we respond to Christ. When Christ knocks on our heart, our first response should be to invite Him in and give Him all we have. Even if our hearts are not perfect rooms for Him to live in, Christ does not care. He loves us and desires us no matter what.

Don’t ever feel like you don’t have anything to offer Christ because of your past. Just give Him whatever you have just as the innkeeper did. Listen to the words of the innkeeper today as he shares about the small, but pivotal role he played in bringing Christ into the world and changing the rhythm of our hearts for all eternity.

Let the Optimistic Outlook of the Psalmist Inspire You Today

A big view of God is a cure for so many of the things in life that would stand in our way or slow us down. When we really grasp the heights of who He is, and the depths of His heart for us, and the strength of His power in us, we can live a whole different kind of life. The way we view God will radically affect how our lives operate. Do we really get the fact that His grace is so strong it can cover all of our faults and weaknesses? Have we faced up to the fact that He is strong and wise enough to see us around, or through, even the most difficult of obstacles?

There must be nothing in our hearts, minds or lives that overshadows the truth of who God is. We must see and believe Him as big enough, kind enough, real enough and strong enough to move in power in our everyday lives – no matter what we’re facing. The fist step for a worshipper is to confidently get to grips with just how magnificent and mighty He is. The next step is to let that confidence in God seep into the very depths of our hearts and minds, forming a holy confidence on the inside of us. When that truly happens, we will dream bigger dreams and live brighter lives.

Psalm 18 contain the heart-flow of an optimistic, bright thinking worshipper. He approaches life with a great big view of who he can be, and he can do, in God:

For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall. Psalm 18:29

He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. Psalm 18:33

Let the optimistic outlook of the psalmist inspire you today. Let it become your motto “He enables me to stand upon the heights.”

Like Pieces to a Puzzle

Puzzles can provide hours of fun and entertainment – but they can become very frustrating. We can do with our lives like we do with puzzles – fit all the easy pieces together and then walk away. What about the hard parts? Some pieces don’t seem to fit and others seem to be missing! Don’t quit!

The Master Puzzler has your life all figured out. He knows where every piece fits. You may not see the whole picture – but He does. And that’s what counts!

Don’t try to figure your life out all on your own. Ask Him for His help and direction. There are pieces of your life that you aren’t even aware of, but He wants to show you. The picture is amazing and He wants you to see it.

He has created your life to be an adventure. You will discover untold blessings but you will also fight the good fight of faith. This side of heaven there are some raging storms but He has provided calm waters as well. In a way, life’s trials are like the interlocking pieces of a puzzle.  Each trial is meaningful to the entire picture of our life. With each trial, more understanding of God’s purpose for us and life will be revealed.

Soon, life will not be a puzzle of separate trials, but it will be a beautiful design of interlocking experiences revealing the wise purpose of our mortal existence. It is up to those who experience trials to persist and endure each trial that they might enjoy God’s purpose for their life.

As you stay connected to Him, He will equip you with all you need. Your life will come together – with His help. And what an amazing picture it will be – framed by His glory!

Is He Trying To Get Your Attention

JESUS CHRIST has a special word for you. It is a word of hope, cleansing, and purpose. Most have heard it. Not all have listened to it and some are just not reading more about it.

Proverbs 1:23-24 (NIV)23 Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. 24 But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand.

You can run, but you can’t hide. And at the end of the day, running won’t get you anywhere either. Running from God only wastes time, effort, and jeopardizes your destiny. There are countless biblical examples of what happens when God tries multiple times to get our attention. I encourage you to read and reflect on some of their stories. If you refuse to pay attention to God when He speaks calmly and gently, He’ll have to try other methods of getting your attention.

So how do we ensure that God has our full attention? It begins with first examining our lives and asking ourselves the question- am I going through hard times because of something I did or because this is where God wants me to be?  Tragically there is too little reading or hearing of the Word. Even more regrettably too few who hear it think about it sufficiently. Most regrettable, only a fraction of those who hear it apply it.

Pastor Appreciation Month….Pray for your Pastor

1 Thessalonians 5:25 (KJV)  Brethren, pray for us.

A pastor may represent many things to a congregation—leader, visionary, spiritual guide, shepherd, administrator, preacher, and teacher. Because of the significant role that pastors play in the life of the church, October is set aside as Pastor Appreciation Month. This is the perfect opportunity to honor the dedication, sacrifice, and service that are demonstrated in the ministry of your pastor.

We often elevate Pastors above the normal man. If they’ve been called by God, then yes, they do have a high calling on their life. We should respect that and treat them with honor. You know though, that calling does not make them any less human, nor does it make them less susceptible to the devil. You can help your Pastor to stay strong in the Lord, by staying on your knees, praying for him. Your prayers will help strengthen your Pastor. It is so important that we pray for our Pastors, all around the world, that they might be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. It’s important for our churches, for America, for our homes & families, our children & grandchildren.

Your pastor’s called to guard God’s flock so you won’t go astray.

That’s why he spends the time it takes to study, preach and pray.

So in this month of saying thanks to those who are ordained,

be sure to honor all of those who serve in Jesus’ Name.

I believe most Pastors desire your prayers.  Pray for your Pastor today and everyday!

ImagePastor’s Wife Appreciation
Behind every good pastor, there is a pastor’s wife! There to stand, often in the shadows, behind her best friend, confidante, and preacher. While many times accolades are given to her husband, she quietly cheers him on; often without visibility to others. Every pastor’s wife needs encouragement!
The Daily Walk With God religious basket is inspired by Micah 6:8, which encourages us to love mercifully, act justly, and walk humbly each day with God. A great Christian gift basket for someone who lends special support on their Daily Walk With God.
